THE USE OF SELECTION INDEXES IN THE COMPLEX EVALUATION OF THE KOSTROMA BREED STUD BULLS

The article deals with the use of selection indexes in the complex evaluation of the Kostroma breed stud bulls on the base of SPK Kolkhoz “Rodina” (Krasnoe selo district of the Kostroma region). On the basis of this evaluation the best stud bulls were selected, the use of their sperm gives a possibility to improve productivity and reproduction qualities of the get. Due to the three evaluation factors (yield, open period and dry period) three line-regressive models were made to determine selection indexes weight coefficient and calculate genetic improvement for each of them. The model meeting productivity and reproduction qualities requirements was chosen.
